After 10 years as a Viticulturist with the NSW Ag Dept and 5 years as a senior vineyard manager with Southcorp Wines, I knew exactly what I was looking for to produce premium wine grapes of the style I wanted.
It took 5 years of careful searching to find the right combination of climatic region, microclimate, soil type and available water to produce what I was after. When I found Mt Frome I knew it was perfect.
The Mudgee Region is now recognised as having a nearly perfect climate for the production of Super Premium Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Chardonnay. Mt Frome Vineyard is 32.78Ha (81 acres), 8Km from Mudgee.
My whole purpose in locating this fabulous site was to produce GREAT flavours in the grapes. The vineyard and how it is managed, with Mother Nature’s co-operation, creates the flavours in wine. The winemaker’s job is to preserve those flavours.
Mt Frome Vineyard is currently Certified Organic and Biodynamic - Certification No. 10842 BD.
